Faith in Gushcloud Sibo?
I have never thought I would ever sit myself down and type a post like this(做 blogger meh?), but seeing my girlfriend suffer so much at the hands of others that is out of my control really makes me angry. Do note that everything written here is from my point of view… From what I see and what I heard from not just her(Rachel) but others as well.
The reason for me wanting to write my piece is not ’cause I want to defame anyone, bring anybody down nor do I want to hop onto the bandwagon, but simply because I feel that whatever happened is wrong and the truth deserves to be told(if anyone even bothers to read what I have to say that is). This is not a post about personal attacks or relationships between either my girlfriend or myself with anybody in the blogosphere. So please don’t embarrass yourselves, don’t need to be childish and bring up old rumours about some irrelevant people and events about our lives that are also probably untrue.
A little bit of background.
I’m Daryl, and Rachel Wong of www.rchlwngx.com is my girlfriend. We’ve been together for more than a year. I’ve known Althea Lim, Co-Founder of Gushcloud and Freda Poh, manager at Gushcloud for years now. I came to know of the existence of Freda since I was about 7 years old, because we attended the same primary and secondary school. (Bopian ma) However after our graduation from secondary school, we don’t talk to each other often at all, much less, meet up, for that matter. I would say my relationship with the both of them are at most acquaintances.
I love my girlfriend for many things, but most of all, I love her child-like, pure heart. Despite seeing her being cyber bullied many times, she’s kept her silence because she was simply brought up in a way that she doesn’t believe in picking fights and neither does she fight back when provoked. However, I come from a much different background and was always taught to stand up for whatever I believed in BUT she’s taught me a lot about tolerance and karma.
We’ve been tolerant so far but I simply find it too difficult to continue keeping silent and watching all of these things happening that are so unfair to not just her, but myself as well – It’s time I finally post the truth about what’s been going on and clear our names once and for all.
She has, as of 5th January 2015, officially left Gushcloud as a contracted influencer and let’s just say she has not been happy there for a long time. Although many other things have been going on that I know about, I only want to say my piece about what I can prove. The list is long but I just want to say that it has not been just a few months of enduring a lot on her end but probably YEARS.
Anyone can easily see from her blog or social media platforms that her time is spent either with me, our families, or our friends and she’s happy like that. We’re always minding our own business. But things took a dramatic turn when Xiaxue’s Exposé Part One was being posted, and the Gushcloud Whatsapp Group Chat was being leaked..
It was a Saturday, 27th of December.
I woke up to several missed calls and messages.. I had gotten a missed call from some unknown number whom I found out later was Althea. I also received a message from Freda, manager at Gushcloud saying :
“Was it u behind the tumblr site?”
to which I asked what she was talking about and she said
“faithingushcloud.tumblr.com”.
Of course I asked if she was joking because I felt it is such a ridiculous accusation and why was I even involved?!
To which she replied “If u did it then admit it”
Why was I accused and asked to admit it ah!? I was VERY angry and fired back at her because I felt she had come up with some baseless and ridiculous motives that we have for doing such things.
Both Freda and Althea also kept pestering us to meet up but we didn’t agree to because we didn’t see a point to it and we spent the day driving around Singapore, busy with important errands to run. I’ve got better things to do than to justify myself to what I feel are deranged people for things which I nor Rachel had never done.
Because they told us they wanted to speak to us so badly, I returned Althea’s call and it went like this : (Excuse my language and tone, as I do swear when provoked like most people out there. And for the record, Althea does not know my mother and my Mom has totally no recollection of who she is, man. LOL)
Yes, you heard it right. Althea had asked Rachel to swear on her family’s life and Freda had asked one of our mutual friends for my address!
Althea admittedly said herself that she wanted to find me to ‘talk’ downstairs. Was this really necessary? Wonder if it’s ok to have this kind of practice? How is putting the word out, asking my friend for my address ok in any way? I felt that it was a major invasion of our privacy.
Althea, the official Co-Founder of a professional company had asked an influencer (Rachel, my girlfriend) under her company to swear on her family and tried to find MY address??? Seriously? All these nonsense is totally uncalled for!
It is not right and even if I am unafraid, I genuinely feel that the privacy of both my family, my girlfriend, and her family’s privacies are all compromised!
So from the above conversation you would be able to hear that Althea had said so herself that she would ‘trust’ my girlfriend, ‘take’ what she’s said, and would ‘go back and tell people that it wasn’t Rachel.’
We thought that was the end of it, but to our dismay, we received information from Rachel’s friends who went down to Gushcloud’s office for a ‘GC Weekend’ event that they were asked for permission to have their phones checked by Althea and a lawyer.
Wait what?!
As if that’s not bad enough, she also added that Althea said she ‘got her’, and Rachel ‘PANICKED and SLIPPED’ that she was the snitch.
THIS WAS AFTER SWEARING ON HER FAMILY AND HAVING ALTHEA SAID SHE TRUSTED HER.
This is a screenshot I grabbed from Rachel’s phone and sent to myself between Nicole (one of the Gushcloud influencers then) and her. (Of course I do not use floral wallpapers lol and the Taiwan thing mentioned is obviously ridiculous la! Kong wu kong bo.)
So. After that, OF COURSE Rachel wanted to clear her name and ask Althea what on earth was going on so she scheduled a meeting with Althea who brought her lawyer to a Starbucks to meet up. The entire conversation was also recorded and in our possession but as video editing takes too much effort, I’m not posting it up here.
Basically, Rachel was asked to hand her phone over to them for checking if she was ok with it to which she said OK, but on one condition to protect herself from the above situation happening once more….
The one and only condition was that Althea has to clear her name immediately in the Gushcloud Exclusive Whatsapp Group Chat right after looking through it since she was sure they would not be able to find anything even a little bit suspicious.
BUT they told her that NO, even after checking, she still remains a suspect.
Seeing as there was no point then, Rachel said no to having her phone checked and was even told she seemed to be ‘not cooperative’ by the lawyer. Checked or not checked, she was gonna be a suspect anyway… TELL ME WHAT IS THE POINT THEN?
Rachel still let it go, despite all of this and knowing that perhaps it wasn’t just Nicole who was being fed this wacky information. Instead, She told me to live and let live although she could have said so much more with all the proof that we had.
Guess what? It was still not over.
When Xiaxue’s Exposé Part Two was posted, we received information ONCE AGAIN that Rachel’s name was being mentioned by Freda to influencers still within the company when speaking about the leak of the Singtel post. We have proof of this straight from Freda by Whatsapp but we don’t wish to disclose it to protect them here.
Wonder where their information came from? If they have proof of anything then prove it, don’t pester random people with dubious information from God knows where leh!
This is the kind of nonsense we had to deal with and there is definitely enough reason for me to speak up now. Gushcloud, unless you have concrete evidence to prove it, you have no rights to tell influencers who the snitch is.
Yes, I can admittedly say that both Rachel and I (more of myself than Rachel actually.. Like I said she’s not the vengeful type) have reasons for bringing those who bullied her down. But fortunately for us, karma did all the work for us instead! HUAT AH!!!

I’m here to stand up for my girlfriend and to clear her name once and for all. I’m so glad we don’t have to deal with this bullshit anymore.
